Norbert Mayer-Wittmann: The News is "Dead as a Door Nail" -- so if you like, just drop in and chat! :D

Why email sucks | 0 replies since Apr 8, 2008, 06:27 AM updated Apr 8, 2008, 06:38 AM
Norbert Mayer-Wittmann: Email is unlike an old fashioned mailbox in one significant way: It's permissible for ANYONE to drop ANYTHING in there. Over time, ISPs offered software algorithms such as anti-spam and anti-virus filtering, but they don't really work as well as REAL PEOPLE. If there are people involved in between -- or even if there is simply a website (like this one) where I could post a complaint if / when someone were to spam me, then that is a very EFFECTIVE method of keeping your inbox clean and uncluttered. So I feel THAT is a primary reason why people use online communities to interact, rather than email. What do you think?
