Social Media "bubble" | 0 replies since Mar 27, 2008, 10:56 PM
Bruce Bandle: I recently read of the trickle down economic effects of our supposed recession hitting the social media world with less than expected returns on SM ads as compared to more tradition media. It was suggested the SM "bubble" might burst as did the real estate and .com era's. I've had almost all of my interviews express concerns over the inability of "millenials" ability to communicate outside the virtual world" eye to eye" so to speak. Hopefully, a fusion of both New Media and "typewriter" intellects make the art of good communication both efficient and "human".

Bruce Bandle: Is SM hitting it's stride or is mainstream media catching up??? The plethora of SXSW articles I'm finding makes me wonder if the self publishing community is soon to be taken seriously. The music industry has definitely approached the corner and is about to turn it! All the buzz is to self publish, unless you get a great deal. This puts so much control ($$$) into the content providers....as one columnist wrote it's like ants talking to each other!

All a Twitter | 0 replies since Mar 11, 2008, 09:41 PM
Bruce Bandle: I found it interesting in my research class to find one of my interviews using Twitter to make hourly log of her life. I guess at the moment those things seem relavent but as time moves on you see how little details ad up to "not much". I always found a diary to be sooo droll......taking pics has always been easier for memories...why not use your camera phone..though I guess it would be harder to"share" what details in your life are interesting to thousands of your "friends".

Hello creatives | 0 replies since Mar 5, 2008, 04:02 PM
Bruce Bandle: I can't imagine a world without photography. When I first got the bug in the silver based world I knew I had the most special eye of anyone. Shadows, rusted metal, body parts, everything around me exploded with shapes and colors. Little did I know that so many images had been discovered years and years before me. But somehow there was a connection to all the creativity that gave me a chance to "see". Nothing will ever compare to a large transparency or silver based print. I feel soooo lucky to have had the chance to be a part of that world. It's not over yet but the dedication of the few will keep the silver tradition alive. It may seem ironic to have to completely start from scratch as in the old days before the photo industry took hold. Instant capture is great, but the smell of hypo is addictive. Black fingernails forever!
