Very cool news, people -- if you missed any of the keynotes at OMMA Global Hollywood - you can catch up here! You'll need to click on the tab labeled OMMA Hollywood 2008 presentations. And, you can see me darting back and forth taking pictures. Kind of creepy :-)

just copy and paste that into your message field and insert your specific info into the placeholder pieces. Can't wait to see what you saw!

FINALLY, I've gotten through the first batch of photos from OMMA Global Hollywood! There are only about 200+ more to sift through, but in the meantime I wanted to share with you the setup process. Not the super secret stuff (because, you know, a magician never tells), but just some good stuff in general.

Be sure to check back here for photos of the event (I have a good 3 million to go through) and also, very very important, a survey for you to share your thoughts on the two day extravaganza.
I had a great time, and I hope you did too. Hey! Here's a thought -- in the meantime, please feel free to share your thoughts NOW by using the discussion tool on this page. all you have to do is scroll down to the bottom and where it says "Add new discussion" just slap in your subject, put your thoughts, ideas, and ruminations in the message area and hit "send" to make yourself heard!

I'm sitting across from Tameka in our hotel room as she works on her stories and I realized that there is something VERY important I need to share with you. Yes there are fabulous free workshops today open to all, YES there are amazing keynotes that you should not miss (if you're a Full Conference pass holder), and YES there are information bulging conference tracks on the mezzanine level this morning and afternoon... but what I really want to share with you is...

Hello Hollywood | 0 replies since Mar 16, 2008, 04:02 PM
Kelly Samardak:
I'm sitting in my room, which I just checked into, looking at the Hollywood sign. I love being in new places and just soaking in the environment, so I'm fairly geeked that my window looks at the sign. I'm about to send out an email update for the event attendees - a reminder for the great sponsored workshops. Oddly enough this laptop is telling me that it's 4:00PM. And even more oddly, I'm cold - but this is NOT going to stop me from being the super tourist complete with camera. This hotel is beautiful and everyone has been very friendly so far. That's a HUGE plus especially when you're so far from home. Once I send the workshop email I need to find the other MediaPosters who are deep into set up mode somewhere on the 5th floor. Whether they like it or not, I'm going to be taking photos and posting them here when I can -- I hope I can find my transfer cable. And if not, I guess you'll just have to come back and check on Wednesday or Thursday!

I'm packing my bags and ready to hit the road ... or the sky.. tomorrow. I'm taking a few extra days to soak up some Burbank culture and get some sun on this pale Manhattan skin. I can't lie, I'm pretty geeked up about this conference. I'm excited to meet everyone - and I hope you'll say hello if you see me. OH! And PS: I'll have my camera so if you need me to take a profile photo for you, I absolutely will! We might even be able to upload it on the spot.

As the excitement builds and the warmth of the Hollywood sun approaches, I'm going to be sending email updates more frequently with little spits and spats about what's happening in the main tent and the Expo Hall.

Hollywood is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER.
You've heard about the sponsored workshops which are free to all attendees, right? Well, don't forget, those rooms fill up fast - so if you've seen a few workshops that really tickle your brain I would advise that you make like a marathoner and hot foot it there fast! No need to sign up or pre-register for the workshops - first come first serve.
Don't forget the cocktail party kicking off the first day. That sounds like cocktails for breakfast, doesn't it? It's really kicking OUT the first day, isn't it? Either way, don't forget. It's a great opportunity to get some valuable palm squeezing, mingling, and connecting over some bubbles. And, hello, Perez Hilton will be there for you to drill with scintillating questions on the art of self promotion through social media!
You have questions, I have answers! | 0 replies since Mar 11, 2008, 04:45 PM
Kelly Samardak:
I have gotten a couple of emails and I wanted to share the answers with you.
Q: Is there anything I need to do for the cocktail hour?
A: Just show up ready to mingle!
Q: Do I need to register for the sponsored workshops?
A: Nope, the sponsored workshops are FREE to all attendees... which means they have the tendency to fill up fast. So if something really tickles you, I would advise you to get there with a quickness!

Man. What an odd day today has been. I got in around 9ish ready to send some informational emails. And really, if your name is Placeholder_Firstname, you probably feel very well attended to :-). I booked my flight and I'm ready for some sun, burritos, and either a Carl's Jr or an In n Out burger. Which one is better? If attendees don't want to go into burger overload, which one is THE BEST?
I'm going to go stalk the art department so I can get you some sneak peeks at signage and maybe the show book!

The energy is crackling through this loft like tiny zots of static electricity. The art department is a flutter with proofing and printing (even though the color printing is spewing out macaroni) and the editorial hub is bubbling. Everyone is getting hyped for Hollywood - which also means that Lorraine almost slugged me when I took her photo while she analyzed signage.

Each year OMMA magazine picks Rising Stars who are new to the industry in the online and interactive media realms, and we’d like your input for 2008. Nominate anyone new on the scene you who think is deserving, whether from your company, a company you’ve worked closely with or even if you think that praiseworthy go-getter is you. Maybe it's someone you'll see at OMMA Global Hollywood!

Let me be the first to say that I'm quite excited to be headed to warm, sunny LA in two weeks. I mean -- OMMA conferences are chock full of panels, networking (and lots of work for us on the MP end), but the fact that this one is in Hollywood makes it seem much more fun!
I can't wait to mix and mingle, write about the sessions and the audience's reactions--not to mention the cocktail party.
Hollywood here we come!

As promised, I came in this morning (after walking to 1140 Broadway from my East Village apartment IN THE RAIN) with my camera prepared to take photos around the office to give you an insider's view of preparation activities. SOMEONE was supposed to bring in a vid camera, too, but that didn't happen - however, I'm resourceful so I hunted one down. I'll post the photos soon.
Also, for those of you new to this whole community and group thing, I'll be slapping up some info for you to make your experience more worthwhile (f'rinstance simply uploading a profile photo).. but we'll get to that in a little bit..

Holy crud! I'm kind of a blog nerd and when I get home from work I like to pour a little candy in my eyes, and that candy goes by the name Perez Hilton. There is nothing like coming home, pouring a glass of red wine, and seeing who has checked into rehab. Well guess what? We actually have the opportunity to share a glass with Perez Hilton as he will be attending the opening night cocktail party on Monday, March 17, 2008 - 5:30pm to 7:00pm! I'm sure I'll be a giggly mess. What do you guys think? Any plans to ask Perez his thoughts on self promotion through "new" media... or maybe just what he thinks about Britney Spears' recovery :-)

Futzing around with video | 0 replies since Mar 3, 2008, 11:06 AM

Watch and learn is the name of the game here. I'm new to mediapost, so I'm figuring things out as I go along too. You get the unique experience of following along as I mess things up or straighten things out. Today, I'm experimenting with video. I mean, heck, if I'm hoping YOU all will contribute videos and photos leading up to and during the OMMA Global Hollywood event, I should do it myself. I took a test video with my cellphone (it's a mint chocolate and I hate it - my cheeks always push buttons while I'm talking on it) and uploaded it HERE to the group. Or so I thought. What the upload tool really does is, and I get the logic, upload your video to YOUR videos. That just means there's a little extra step.
Here's what I did:
upload video
return to profile page to see video is now shown in "videos"
click on the OMMA Global Hollywood group in my groups to return to this page
click on the "add video link" annnnnd
tada! There's my face to choose from. I clicked on it and as you can see, there it is!
Be nice, it's a test!
