Description:
Welcome to the "Center for Branding + Design". Too often the discussion in todays society is either extremely logical and business based, or very creative and design based. . .each group tends to not fully understand or embrace the other. The reality is that todays consumers, companies, employees intersect both these worlds and the Center for Branding + Design creates a dialog that harmonizes the relevancy of both worlds without alienating either. Please come join us, kick off your shoes, pull up a chair, enter our world where we examine fundamental business issues in an increasingly design centric society. Enjoy!

KoAnn Skrzyniarz: Hey Christian! I don't believe we've met, though I definitely know your studio . I'm CEO of Sustainable Life Media. Among other things, we produce the Sustainable Brands Conferences (SBi coming up in Miami Beach December 9-11: http://www.sustainablebrandsinternational.com). I just wanted to say hello and tell you that it would be great to have you part of our community of brand, design, and sustainability execs who are creating new business opportunity through sustainable innovation. If you've already found us, sorry I haven't made the connection! Would love to know more about Olive and your thinking about sustainable brands when you have the time. Find me at SBi, or shoot me a note at koann@sustainablelifemedia.com sometime!

Christian Bayley: Hello, My name is Christian Bayley, and I am the managing partner of Olive Studio, a full service marketing and design firm with offices in Portland, Atlanta, New York and Los Angeles. We have created a group entitled the Center for Branding + Design, where my self and my business partner and creative director Eric Goldstein, hope to create an interactive forum that discusses business issues in an increasingly design centric world. Over the past eleven years, our firm has been fortunate enough to work with hundreds of companies at various stages of growth including some of the most innovative brands in the world, from Fortune 500s such as Nike, Acuity Brands Lighting, Mattell, Hasbro and American Airlines to start-ups and small/mid cap firms as well. We hope to bring some fresh perspective to a discussion that too often stays purely dry and business like. . .or overly creative and designy. . instead we examine the intersection of these two worlds and how they are shaping the modern approach to marketing. From technology issues, the impact of digital media, the rise of consumer generated content and social media, all the way down to fundamental branding, design and advertising issues: we will attempt to look at a host of cases and best practices both from our own work and other leading portfolios, and above all we encourage contribution and interaction. So welcome, kick off your shoes, pull up a chair, get comfortable, welcome to our world and above all else PARTICIPATE! The Center for Branding + Design has considerable archives but we need your help because two way dialog is always the most fruitful in the end. Cheers!
